16: Absconding Offenders

 Kartavya: Duty with Dedication

Chapter 16 : Absconding Offenders

The desire to set off a millionaire in a short way leads a man to the path of serious crime. A human being blinded by the greed of wealth does not even think of killing another human being. One such painful incident from the past of twelve years is described here.

It happened twelve years ago when a container carrying five tractors belonging to a trader in Anand went missing. The container owner was trying to contact the driver. But the driver's phone was found switched off. The owner realized that something untoward must have happened. The container with his fellow men went in search of the trailer on Shamalaji Highway. While checking all the hotels on that road one by one, he came to know that a driver with a tractor full of containers had stayed at the same hotel for one night and left early in the morning. There was no trace of where he went after that. The suspicion of the owner became stronger that the driver himself had absconded with the container in temptation. The owner filed a complaint against the driver at the police station. The police, thus, started an investigation.

On the third day of its disappearance, the missing container was found uninhabited in the forest of Chhota Udepur. Apart from this, the tractors loaded in the trailer were also missing. The container owner went to Chhota Udepur and identified the trailer. The container owner's suspicions that the tractor driver might have sold the loaded items turned out to be correct. Now the case was registered in the police station of Chhota Udepur area. The police started a flurry of investigation there too.

The secrets those came out in the investigation were shocking. The names of seven accused were revealed, some of them were from Balasinore and Godhra. The police nabbed some of these seven accused at the same time. While the other accused took advantage of the opportunity and escaped. The arrested accused were severely interrogated.

Based on the confession made by the accused, the container owner's suspicion of container theft on the driver was completely wrong. According to the confessional record, when the container was being transported from Bayad to Kapdwanj, the accused overtook the trailer with a private car and stopped it. One of them climbed into the trailer's cabin and hit the driver. The body was cremated. The tractors in the trailer were stolen and the trailer was left in the forest of Chhota Udepur. Twelve years ago, a complaint of murder was registered at the Bayad police station.

Despite the efforts of the police, the main indictee of the murder had been fugitive for twelve years. But the Bayad police never had given up on hunting him. Once, Bayad P.S.I. Mr. S.K. Desai got a definite information about the accused's son who had become a Maulavi in a village in Kheda district. Mr. Desai reached him and communicated tactfully to get his father’s particulars when it seems hard to get any detail easily. Mr. Desai expounded him that he had initiated the pious religious duties and added If he would commit an act of iniquity by supporting a murderer how Allah would accept his worship. Those words melted Maulavi’s heart. Maulvi answered positively as he told to Mr. Desai, “My father lives in Godhra. I give his address to you. You go and catch him.”

The police pleaded, “Your father has been absconding for twelve years. No policeman knows his face. Please come with us to Godhra.” As Maulavi accepted the police’s words they left for Godhra reached at the given address. They all had to be quite vigilant for the murderer must not to escape that time. The police were dressed plainly. They climbed up the roof of the accused's house and inspected the surrounding area. Police personnel were stationed under cover in all four directions. PSI Desaisaheb knocked the door of the house. As soon as the accused opened the door, the police nabbed him. Due to the vigilance and bravery of the police, at the end of twelve years, the accused of murder was brought to jail.

Anti-social elements are emboldened in the society due to the rampant accused. The police are always cautious to bring such lawbreakers to justice. Police have to work with strength and skill to tackle the criminals and moreover they have to risk their lives. However, Aravalli District Parole Furlough PSI K. S. Sisodia, PSI K. N. Manat and his respective team have a similar heart-wrenching story of catching the remaining 181 culprits. The police are determined to decontaminate the society by taking risks and nabbing the offenders. In the last few years, as many as 182 fugitive indictees have been apprehended and set an example.

15: Munnabhai MBBS

  Kartavya: Duty with Dedication

Chapter 15:  Munnabhai MBBS

Is it possible for a patient to die not of a disease but of a drug? Seems strange. Medicines are meant to save lives. How can they kill the patient? What would be the scenario, suppose if an illiterate person examines a patient, administers drugs, injects and bottles? Yes, sickeningly, many illiterate Munnabhai MBBS’ are found in medical practices in remote villages.

Once there was a flare-up of deceptive doctors gulling money by tampering with the health of uneducated and ignorant people in the distant villages of Aravalli district. The ineligible doctors without obtaining any required degree certificate used to treat people with conventional medicine. And so forth they were messing with people's health and committing unforgivable crimes at the cost of patients’ lives. Even a few of compounders were also carrying bags of medicine on bikes and going door-to-door delivering death in the name of medical treatment.

When such cases came to the light, it became necessary for the police to act with strict hands and to teach lessons to such bogus doctors. Several informants collected details from different areas of the Aravalli district. The district SOG team got determined to set an example in the society by nabbing the bogus doctors. The police hatched a conspiracy to trap these so-called rogue doctors. They seized about fourteen fake medical practitioners along with a large quantity of medicines. Many other addas of such false doctors disappeared overnight as the police took action. People also came to know the truth by whom they were given medicine.

There were many doctors practicing medicine without a degree. Such bogus bones disappeared overnight as the police took action.
People also came to know the truth that the rogues who gave them the medicines were actually Munnabhai MBBS.

“No one has ever seen the God Almighty, but we consider the doctors as the envoys of the God. Inflicting physical and financial harm to patients suffering from poverty and illiteracy by giving them false hope is a serious matter. This matter has become grave serious in the post-corona period.

The district police’s words reflect his determination:

“Maintaining peace in the society is the first responsibility of the police. We have also been vigilant about health matters and have taken strict action against the bogus doctors who are tampering with it. The district police have done commendable work. Police have played an important role in building ‘a bogus doctor free society’.”

14: Is it a spa or….?

 Kartavya: Duty with Dedication

Chapter 14: Is it a spa or….?

A young man: Do you have anything new?

Hotel Owner: Rose flavour present in stock.

A young man: Rate?

Hotel Owner: 800.

A young man: Make the price fair enough.

Hotel owner: The Rose cultivation is getting expensive, but if you are a regular customer, give at least 600.

The above telephonic conversation is not as simple as it sounds. This dialogue is a danger bell for civil society. Whether it is a town or a big city, prostitution is spreading alarmingly. The lives of many young men and women are being ruined by the evil of prostitution. There are many places where body trade business is run under the banner like beauty parlour, massage centre and spa. The district police are constantly trying to ensure that the lives of young men and women who fall into the trap of prostitution, must not be ruined. As a result, the district police busted a prostitution racket by raiding a spa massage centre in Modasa, the district headquarters.

The police take a strict stance on any unethical activities in the district and try to stamp it out immediately. The police received details about a prostitution racket running under the guise of a spa massage centre. Immediately the district police team became active to crack the spa racket.

Modasa city is the hub of education. Students from all over the country come here for their studies. Some elements entice such students into prostitution. It was privately tipped off that the owner of Thai Spa and Massage Parlour situated next to one of the hotels on Modasa Shamla Road, is running prostitution under the guise of an illegal spa. Moreover, it was involved in many sordid activities such as sneaking girls from abroad illegally, calling clients and conducting illegal prostitution business.

No sooner had they found the information, the police raided the Thai Spa and Massage Parlour. The cringey views from the spa centre were degrading the notability of the town. In a small room, girls from the other provinces with their customers were caught in appalling conditions. The owner of the spa centre was taken into the custody immediately. The whole affair became the talk of the town. By assaulting this racket, the police have succeeded in preventing the lives of many young men and women from being ruined by the taint of prostitution. The police took strict action against the hotel owner and the caught customers.

Collegians demand or call pocket money from their parents every month in the name of their studies. Despite facing indigence parents tend to fulfil their children’s desires, but the children are misusing the money and ruining their lives by engaging in unethical business. While some girls take a short cut to earn money due to the appearance of the hi-fi lifestyle and get into prostitution and make their lives poison. Once in this business there is very little chance of turning back. Girls who want to get away from prostitution are blackmailed by hotel owners and pimps. Even though girls have to escape, it becomes impossible to escape from this clutch, so it is imperative for young men and women to be vigilant and stay away from such elements.

PSI V. V. Patel who busted the spa racket says, “Call girl details have gone viral in Google. In a single click, heaps of contact numbers and photos are found instantly. By abusing some loopholes in the law, pimps exploit needy and young girls who have been kidnapped from foreign states. Girls from Nepal, West Bengal and Bangladesh are preyed upon by brokers. Once victimized girls fall into that clutch there is no turning back. Laws treat such girls as victims. The main objective of the police is to take action against the brokers, to save the girls from their clutches.”

Many lives were saved from being ruined when the Modasa spa racket was exposed. Enlightened citizens of the district, social organizations applauded the work of the police. The police will have to remain vigilant and take strict action to prevent the town from becoming a hub for such flesh trade by doing any other activity in the name of guest house or spa centre.

13 : The Cultivation of Poison

Kartavya: Duty with Dedication

Chapter:13 The Cultivation of Poison

Ganja Cultivation in Aravalli! Isn’t it hard to believe? But the whole division was stunned when the Aravalli district police cracked a massive racket of Ganja cultivation down based on information.

The youth of a country is the future of her. Therefore, the enemies of the country are always in a search for an opportunity to ruin the lives of such promising youths by making them addicted to drugs. Drugs, heroin, Charas, Ganja, opium, these all are the absolute poisons to obtain their target., Although, the government is grave serious and set on to stop drug addiction. The Aravalli district LCB busted a huge racket of Ganja cultivation worth around two and a quarter crore and dealt a huge blow to the enemies of the country.

While describing that heart-felt operation, LCB PI K.D. Gohil tells: “I was busy with my routine office works on that day as usual. There I got an unknown call from a stranger speaking in a panicked voice. As he said he had something very serious to inform. He added anxiously that his life might have been in danger if someone could have come to know about his giving the information. Yet, he wanted to share for it was an indispensable news.

“I assured him for his identity would be skeleton in the cupboard. My heart dropped for a moment when I heard what the stranger said the next. He carried on mumbling, “Sir! The youth of the country will be ruined. Please do save them. The poisonous Ganja is cultivated in one of the villages of Bayad block. Please cease this cultivation and extricate the youth of our great nation, Sir.”

“At first, I was shocked to know about the cultivation of Ganja in our district itself, but the stranger had a stab of pain in his voice. As there was a ring of truth, the wheels were set in motion to investigate in that direction.

“I shared all those particulars with District Police Chief Sanjay Kharat. He took the matter extremely seriously and ordered an immediate investigation to detain the entire racket.

“We started on a secret mission. First, we connected the stranger who had called me. the Our team reached at night for a search operation in the fields of the village where Ganja was being cultivated. The whole village was fast asleep. The police team reached the outskirts of the village with full preparation. That stranger also joined us. Although he had a mask on his face. We could only see his eyes. Our team moved towards the direction under his leadership. We were passing fields one after another in the dark night. There the stranger halted at the edge of a field. where Toor was grown. The man beckoned us to enter the farm.

“Crossing the big Toor plants, when we reached at the middle of the field, we were stunned to see the Ganja plants grown under the semblance of Toor cultivation. As it became necessary to examine the surrounding farms as well, we proceeded. And it was beyond our imagination. In second field, we got the same scenery, also in third, in fourth and in fifth and so on…. it continued. The whole team was amazed to see such a large amount of Ganja cultivation.

“The operation lasted for 36 hours day and night. With the help of drones, the crops grown in the fields of an area of about two kilometres were monitored. We needed many tractors as we started to collect the complete Ganja cultivation. A total of 2272 kg of green Ganja plants were seized. The estimated cost of which was two and a half crores. The entire police team was awake day and night and carried out the entire operation.

“With that successful operation, the police confiscated the belongings that ruined the lives of many youths. Criminals who were cultivating Ganja were caught. The next question was how the Ganja seed reached there. After rigorous enquiry, we found that the Ganja seeds were supplied by 'The Elephant Maharaj' - as the supplier was identified by that name only among the accused. The accused knew neither the face nor the original name of the supplier.

“A tip-off from a stranger led to an important operation. Even after the success of the operation, the man refused to give his true identity to the police. And we also respected his sentiment of anonymity. I wanted to ask the informant one last question about why he got us the respective information on the verge of his death. His answer shocked my heart.

“As he replied, 'Sir, I also had a brother whose life was ruined by the Ganja addiction. At the end, his condition was so pathetic. As a family we could not help him anyhow. I have lost my brother. I have risked my life so that no other brother should follow this path of destruction.”

Contentment reflects in the eyes of PI K.D.Gohil for successfully completing that operation as he concluded the report here.

11: A football player became the most wanted.

 Kartavya: Duty with Dedication

Chapter 11: A football player became the most wanted.

There is no shortcut to become rich in life. However, there are numerous examples available in our society of many promising young people ruining their lives by turning to the path of crime in the temptation of getting rich in a short way. So, let’s talk about a person who was an excellent football player in his school days but later on, in his youth, took on a wrong path in order to get richer shortly and committed serious crimes one after another. Hence the once promising football player became the most wanted.

His name was Suko. His village Dodisara, is a small village in Bhiloda taluka located in the lap of Aravalli Hills. It is surrounded by hills. As soon as one enters the village, one can get the sight of a full-sized statue of Birsa Munda. This chowk is also named as Birsa Munda Chowk. Suka was born here and grew up among the hills. He was a good football player during his school days. His had a good physique.

He was living an ordinary life. His parents were farmers. But Suka was very ambitious. He also wanted to be rich. He wanted to dominate that area. It seemed that it would take years to achieve his goal, but Suka did not have that much patience. To earn money in a short way he started a liquor business. More money started to come with less effort. As the money came, his confidence reached the seven clouds. His dominancy also started to increase in the surrounding area. If anyone opposed him, he would beat them in public. Thus, no one dared to complain against him.

Most of the population in this hilly region of Bhiloda in Aravalli belonged to the tribal community. The residents of this area who had received school education had high positions in the administration, but those who were illiterate weren’t able to feed themselves. They didn't even know what to do to earn. Suka began to lead such ignorant people. Lack of employment had forced these people to take on illegal jobs to earn money. Suka became a messiah for such people.

The liquor business is very easy and straightforward. If had good contacts with the administrators, large sum of money at less effort could be acquired. A big amount of money could be earned by preparing eight to ten hooligans. Suka was the mastermind. He lured other people in need of money to join his illegal business and made his gang. If a police van passed around the area, his attendants would immediately inform Suka and he would immediately flee from the spot. His network was so massive that he could get information about the area in seconds.

His age was about 30 years. Living in the midst of hills had made his body strong. He had a chiselled body, a small but stylish moustache, a straight pointed nose, fair complexion, short but curly hair, a coloured cap, which he used as a mask in the winter and summer.

Suka had become reinless and started committing crimes fearlessly. He used to harass the people around him, but once when the police raided his adda he attacked the police fatally. He even snatched their rifle and fled away. As if he was not afraid of anyone. Suka’s gang had become famous even among the police circles. Between the two big hills of Aravalli was the village of Dodisara. There was only one main road leading to the village. As the village was surrounded by hills, it was very difficult to reach the village by other ways. Suka was very familiar with the geography of the area. He was still in touch with his colleagues. The geographical situation was such that if any stranger entered the village, he would be informed immediately. Hence, despite all the efforts made by the police, Suka was nowhere to be found.

A total of 23 cases were registered against Suka. In which, serious crimes like two fatal attacks on the police, abduction of a police service rifle, assault, liquor smuggling and two murders were registered. He had brutally killed his uncle. Suka, suspecting that his uncle had his eye on his wife, had killed his uncle by stabbing him in the chest. However, after settling the case, Suka was acquitted in the court. His supremacy was so much that if someone filed any case against him, he would make a settlement with the accused party with money and power and escape from the hands of the law. This streak of his continued and Suka went on committing crimes fearlessly and thus, became the most wanted.

Undaunted, Suka brutally committed another murder. He had suspicion that someone would have practiced witchcraft on him, causing his business to become very slow and weak. With that thought, he had killed an occultist. That murder was done in a very brutal manner. That occultist was caught, brought home, kept hungry and thirsty and was beaten deadly for two consecutive days. Suka even gave him electric shocks. The occultist was admitted to the hospital in a very pathetic condition and had died during treatment. Five accused involved in that murder were nabbed by the police, but Suka managed to escape.

It had become a very arduous task to arrest Suka. He had challenged the police. Bhiloda Police along with LCB, SOG and Special Force were conducting a search operation day and night. During the investigation they crossed the border of Rajasthan as well as of Punjab.  But Suka was nowhere to be found. He had a special motorbike that ran at the speed of the wind. He could even drive it at full speed on hilly roads. And in an instant, he would disappear into the hills.

Aravalli district police chief Sanjay Kharat realized the seriousness of this case and devised a plan to put Suka in jail. A police team was formed in which L.C.B. Pl. C.P. Vaghela, PI M.G. Vasava, PSI K.M. Sisodia were involved. Suka had two marriages. Even though he had two wives, he had an affair with a third damsel. One night Suka was returning after meeting his beloved. The district police got that information. They nabbed Suka on the spot. Eventually the police succeeded and Suka was caught.

After arresting Suka, the District Police Chief Sanjay Kharat himself interrogated him. Says Sanjay Kharat: “There was no sign of remorse on Suka's face after being caught. There was not even a hint of guilt on his face. His eyes were piercing and emotionless. His body smelled malodorously as he had not bathed for several days."

To track down such criminals the State Government has enacted GUJCTOC (The Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organized Crime Act). And due to the implementation of this law, Suka and 19 of his accomplices are currently in jail. The Aravalli District Police is applauded for their hard work of sending such a notorious gang and its leader behind the bars. A heartfelt salute must be given to all the officers who made this operation a success.

Everyone should always keep in mind that there is no shortcut to becoming rich and successful. And even if there is a shortcut it will be short-lived and will only lead to a painful end.

"Shortcuts are always dangerous."

10: Elimination of The Terror

Kartavya: Duty with Dedication

Chapter 10: Elimination of The Terror

The fracture Gang.

All the people from Aravalli to Ahmedabad were terrorized by the Fracture Gang. The very name of this gang caused a stir among the people. The gang was ferocious and often attacked people with the intention of looting in which innocent people were killed brutally. The hooligans of this gang struck people so ruthlessly that their body parts got fractured. Therefore, this gang became infamous as the Fracture Gang.

Those hooligans used to assemble and commit many serious crimes like tussling, threatening, attempting murders, kidnapping, ragging, violating the drug laws, etc fearlessly. The mastermind of this gang and other criminals had formed this gang to carry out such illegal activities. The inhabitants of Ahmedabad region were terrified by this gang.

For quite a while, the Fracture gang had been active in the liquor smuggling business. The Aravalli district police acquired information by one of their informers about the smuggling of liquor from Rajasthan via Aravalli by this gang. Based on the information, the district police tightened the perambulation. Patrolling intensified. Their alertness increased. The information regarding the Fracture gang passing through the main road of Aravalli at any time was unerring.

Soon after, a suspicious vehicle passed through the border area. The police instantly chased after it. The driver of the suspected vehicle, although had realized that it would be difficult to evade the police that day, continued to drive the car recklessly at full speed. It was as if a film shooting was going on the main road. District police pursued the suspicious vehicle from Shamalaji and successfully arrested one of the hooligans of Fracture gang, who was involved in smuggling of alcohol, from Gajan Toll-Naka. This was a great success for the district police.

The miscreant, caught with foreign liquor, was brought to Modasa police station and was interrogated intensively. That gang was so valiant that it seemed they feared none. During the interrogation, the miscreant attacked the police with a glass bottle. One of the policemen got injured lethally. How barbarous that man would be to have fatally attacked a police constable while being in the custody!

More than a dozen cases were registered against that gang in various police stations. Nevertheless, the gang members would get out on bail and resume their criminal activities. It had become essential to bring the unruly fractured gang to its senses. The Aravalli police unearthed all the criminal records of that gang.

The State Government is also committed to teach a lesson to the gangs who commit such serious crimes and that’s why the State Government has enacted the GUJCTOC (The Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organized Crime) Act. To put an end to the wrongdoings of such gangs this Act provides laws regarding criminals not being eligible for bail and stringent punishment to all the lawbreakers.

The Aravalli district police gathered information about all the hooligans related to Fracture Gang who were brazenly committing many crimes. The other goons of the Fracture gang were also bravely nabbed by the district police. DYSP Bharat Basia and his team had made the operation to eliminate the notorious fracture gang successful at the risk of their lives.

Based on the criminal activities of this gang, action was taken under the GUJCTOC (The Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organized Crime) Act. Aravalli district police succeeded. Under the GUJCTOC Act, the gallant team of the Aravalli District Police had jailed the gangsters of Ahmedabad's notorious Fracture Gang, who are still rotting in the jail. Citizens from Aravalli to Ahmedabad have sigh of relief since the infamous Fracture gang has been jailed.

9 :Where did the siblings go?

Kartavya: Duty with Dedication

Chapter-9 :Where did the siblings go?

Is it possible for the family to eat a piece of food or drink a drop of water if their child has left home in the morning and yet to return back till the night and found untraceable? The pain of losing a child can only be understood by the family who has experienced that loss.
‘Missing children’ is a matter of grave concern for the government, society and police. News of missing children or minors frequently are reported in newspapers. We all normally treat such news as routine matter, but the very idea of what the family must be going through sends shivers down the spine. Where would the child be? In what condition it would be? Would it be alive or not, and many such terrible ideas would rummage through the mind of family members. The pain that the ‘missing child’ family experiences is simply indescribable.
The incidents of illegal human trade i.e. Human trafficking in the country is a matter of grave concern for mankind. The district police are determined to prevent any such untoward incident from happening in the State. In missing children’s cases, the police have taken immediate action and reunited them with their families.
An incident of missing children created a stir in Modasa region. The date was 3rd February 2023. Bhalabhai, a resident of Modasa came home after day long labour. He had a ten-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son, and it was evening and they had still not returned home. Bhalabhai thought that they might have gone to play in the neighbourhood and felt that they will come home soon. But night fell yet both the children didn’t return home. He searched around but were not to be found anywhere. The very thought that where the children will be at this late hour sent a shudder. Bhalabhai’s family became worried now. Tired after searching everywhere, finally they decided to report to the police station. At night, a complaint about the missing children was registered with Modasa town police.
The police swung into action on receiving the complaint about the missing children. In such cases wasting of a moment can result in paying of heavy price. The police questioned the parents and gathered the basic information about the missing children.
It is easy to search an adult person’s whereabouts based on his mobile location and other details, but to trace missing children the task becomes much more difficult. It is a challenging task to find the missing children as early as possible.
The town inspector contacted the duty PSI Jaydip Chowdhary of ‘NETRAM’ branch and shared the details of the missing children. On realizing the gravity of the situation, the NETRAM branch immediately started working on the case. They started checking all the CCTV footage of the town. The investigation was initiated from Leo Police station of Modasa, from where the children went missing. The footages of surrounding shops, offices and showrooms were also checked.
Time was passing away even while the action was being taken. It was then that a ray of hope appeared. In one CCTV footage, both the children were seen playing before a shop. Immediately the police reached the spot and questioned the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper too said, “Yes, the children were playing here and then slept on the footpath, but I don’t know where they went later.”
It was second day, yet no specific information regarding the children was available. NETRAM team was constantly on vigil. In another footage, the two siblings are seen playing around a restaurant near the bypass. On inquiry, the restaurant owner told the police that both the children had come there. After eating over there, he overheard both the children talking about going to their maternal uncle’s house in Palanpur.
Everyone was surprised to hear it. How can such tender aged children of 8-10 years even think of going to Palanpur? It was a fact that the children’s maternal uncle’s residence was in Palanpur. Based on this information, police made an inquiry about the children at the maternal uncle’s house in Palanpur. To everyone’s utter surprise, the children were found at maternal uncle’s residence in Palanpur. The parents and the police all breathed a sigh of relief, on finding the whereabout of the children.
How the little siblings reached Palanpur still remains a mystery? The incident of the children being found, had a happy ending, but all such incidents don’t have such happy endings. Sometimes such children fall into the hands of anti-social elements. And children are trafficked and used for crime or begging purpose. Minor girls are abducted and tortured and forced in the business of flesh trade at very tender age. Sometimes human trafficking is done for illegal selling of human organs.
The police have succeeded in finding of missing children in different cases.
According to a survey, 400 women and children are disappearing every day out of India’s 140 crore population. Missing persons are forced into prostitution or other illegal activities. This is a matter of deep concern for the society and that is the reason why the joint efforts of State Govt., Gujarat Police, and District Police have been very successful in tracing the missing children, minors from Aravalli district.

8: Again, The Nirbhaya Case?

Kartavya: Duty with Dedication

Chapter-8: Again, The Nirbhaya Case?

Many heinous incidents occur in the society that make our heart tremble just on hearing them. The Nirbhaya incident occurred at New Delhi, had shaken the whole country. Its ramifications had echoed from the streets to the Parliament. The government had understood the graveness of the incident and had made the laws more stringent. However, why do such atrocious incidents keep occurring in society is still in question.

When a person breaks all the boundaries of humanity he takes a form of terrifying monster. The rape incident that had occurred recently in Aravalli was despicable.

Once in a hamlet of Malpur taluka, the entire village was celebrating the Holi festival beamingly. They had come for darshan of the holy fire of Goddess Holika. A couple living on the edge of the village also left their two young daughters sleeping at home and went to have darshan of the Holy fire. People were dancing in trance to the beats of the drumsticks hitting the big drums in unison. But amidst the thunderous sound of the drum, no one could hear the scream of the helpless four-and-a-half-year-old girl.

After When the couple returned home puja of Goddess Holika, their younger daughter was not in the bed. They believed her playing somewhere nearby. They started searching her around but couldn’t trace her out. Now the hearts began trembling. After all, where has their sleeping daughter gone? In a moment a whirlwind of thoughts arose. Where would the daughter be? What condition she would be in? Who would have picked her up?

Nearby people also gathered and started searching the nearby fields with torches and lanterns. A torch light fell on the slope of the farm a short distance from the house and the sight caused a heart-rending scream of everyone who witnessed the scene. A demon of about twenty-four years old was brutally scratching a four-and-a-half-year-old girl to satisfy his lust.   As light fell on that monster, he didn’t even wait to put on his clothes, he fled away to save his life.

…and a little girl laid in a pool of blood in agony and agony. All hell broke out on the daughter’s parents. The flames of Goddess Holika lit in the village had died down, but the flames that took shape in the life of the girl here were probably never going to die down.

The shock was unbearable for the girl’s parents. The entire incident was reported to the Malpur police. The victim was admitted to the hospital for treatment.

The district police showed extreme seriousness regarding this melancholic and sensitive case and were determined to find out the culprit and accord him the strictest punishment. Within hours, the police caught the fiend. Criticism was pouring in from all sides for this demonic act.

The police didn’t rest by just arresting the rapist but ensured that he would get seriously punished for his atrocious act. The then L.C.B. PI C.P Vaghela and his team investigated the case on a war footing. Due to lack of evidence, in many cases, the criminals acquitted, but in this case the police were careful not to miss even a slightest detail.

The L.C.B. team after carrying out Panchnama collected the necessary evidence. The clothes that the girl child was wearing at the time of the incident along with clothes of the demonic man were sent to the FSL. The girl child was medically examined. All reports indicated the heinous act of the culprit.

Sanjay Kharat’s efforts to get the case heard quickly in the Special court and the rapist to be punished expeditiously were great and his efforts were successful. The case was tried in a Special court. Public prosecutor D.S. Patel also made a strong pleading in the court and strengthened the case. Finally, every one’s hard work paid off. In just a short span of seven moths the court handed down its verdict and sentenced him by inflicting a rigourous punishment of 20 years to the devil in human form. This was a historic verdict. The efforts of L.C.B. PI C. P. Vaghela, PSI S. K. Desai in bringing the culprit to justice was admirable.

The role of all officers and the Public Prosecutor in the entire case was instrumental in helping the victim’s family to get speedy justice.

7: In the Lair of Criminals

 Kartavya: Duty with Dedication

Chapter -7: In the Lair of Criminals

If any crime is committed within the boundary of a State, its investigation becomes limited to that state, and hence solving that case becomes a bit easier for the police. But if the crime is connected to another State, it becomes very difficult and challenging to investigate and nab the treacherous criminals.

A very famous party plot of Modasa city has witnessed many splendid occasions. In one such grand wedding ceremony, the hosts along with their guests were enjoying the occasion to the brim. After the feast, the guests left. Around 11 pm, the family members of the party-givers were engaged in photo shoot so as to make the event unforgettable. But none of them had the slightest idea that these blissful moments were not going to prevail longer.

During wedding occasions, it is a tradition to accept gifts in cash, and mostly this duty is assigned to the son-in-law of the family. He had finalized the amount of money received in the notebook and had securely put the cash along with the book in a bag, when someone urged him to join the family photo shoot. As people present there were all family members, he left the bag unattended on the counter table and joined the photo session. Finally, when it was all over, he returned to the counter for the bag, and found it gone.

It was a bolt from the blue for the son-in-law, as the bag contained jewelleries and cash totalling a worth of around ten lakhs. He frantically started searching for the bag, but it was nowhere to be found. Initially he thought that someone must have played a prank on him by hiding the bag, but the bag was missing for real. The joy of marriage function turned into a melancholy.

Not the slightest bit was found despite searching all over the place. Just because of a reckless blunder, a very big amount of money was stolen. Despite the presence of abundant family members at the moment someone took the bag and had slipped away from everyone’s sight. The nearby police station was informed of this incident immediately. It was for the first time that a case of robbery of over 10 lakhs was filed in that region. The police started investigating this challenging case of professional robbers from late night. They started with checking the CCTV footages of the party-plot along with the surrounding shops. Suspicious activities of some 10-12 years old children were observed in them. How and why would the children of such a young age commit a robbery of such a large sum of money? Those children were passing the bag to each other and moving forward. They quickly delivered the bag to the car which was stationed at a certain distance and in the blink of an eye the car disappeared.

The mystery of this theft was to be solved based on the CCTV footage. It was difficult to reach the crooks based solely on footage without any supporting evidence. But strong will makes the impossible possible. CCTV footages of the surrounding tolls were collected. A suspicious car was observed in them. The police successfully got their hands on the number of the car. The registration of the car was from Madhya Pradesh. A whole lot of details and the resume of the person on whose name the car was registered were gathered. Checking that resume revealed a long list of crimes.

That village in Madhya Pradesh is very notorious. Most of the people here are known for smuggling in different parts of the country. These people have created such a dangerous awe that even the local police have to think many times before entering that village. These people abduct 10-12 years old children from Rajasthan and prepare them for trafficking. Children around this age can very easily get access to any occasion anywhere. They are trained on how to pick up the valuables on sight without grabbing any attention. Nobody even suspects them. The mastermind behind the whole incident is standing 200-500 metres away from the crime scene and has fully geared to escape. The moment the valuables reach their hands, their car vanishes at full speed within a few moments. The children are appeased by giving some money.

The same notorious gang had carried out the theft of 10 lakhs in the Modasa party plot. The criminal record of the accused was in the hands of the police. Nabbing the crooks from that dangerous village in an unknown area of Madhya Pradesh was quite tricky than expected. The District Police chief Sanjay Kharat tried to talk to the Superintendent of Police of that area in Madhya Pradesh for help, but the local police cooperation did not provide the expected cooperation.

The team of Aravalli District Police left for Madhya Pradesh. There was no possibility of getting the cooperation of local police there. Just a fortnight before the occurrence of this incident, the local police were fatally attacked from this village. Both tact and force had to be employed. The police mixed with the locals of that village in plain clothes and collected important information. Based on this information, it was certain that the accused of the theft of Rs. 10 lakhs belonged to this village. Extorting money from him was as hard as chewing iron grams. The police officers cleverly arranged a meeting with the village sarpanch and persuaded him to return the stolen money. While conversing with the sarpanch, it was revealed that many people including the Sarpanch were involved in the trafficking. The sarpanch was convinced to return the money using all possible tactics. According to him, all the theft booty was spent.

The task of recovering the money was difficult but the Aravalli District Police was not ready to give up. The Aravalli Police went to another State and without the cooperation of the local police entered the stronghold of dangerous criminals and were successful in seizing approximately three lakhs of stolen money. Recovering 3 lakhs rupees from those criminals was a big victory. Police are still putting effort to recover the remaining amount of money. The local police of Madhya Pradesh were also stunned to see this feat of the Aravalli Police. PSI C.F. Rathod and his team played a crucial role in solving this case.

The police don’t even care about their own lives to protect people’s lives and property. This is the intoxication that lies on wearing ‘Khakhi’

6: Who committed the thievery?

Kartavya: Duty with Dedication

Chapter -6: Who committed the thievery?

Many criminals dream of deadly attacks and robberies to terrorize in broad daylight. Aravalli police has set many examples of capturing such criminals, squashing their malicious intentions and teaching them appropriate lesson.

This is about one of such a robbery incident that occurred in broad daylight on a desolated road in a village near Shamala. That is a tribal area. The people of tribal community live there by building kutcha pucca houses scattered on hills. Private finance companies provide many loan and saving schemes in this area and the employees regularly visit them to get the instalments.

It was the afternoon of 9th December 2022. Few employees of such a private financial company were passing on bike through a desolated road after collecting the amount obtained out of loan and saving schemes in the villages near Shamala. They didn’t have even the slightest idea about being kept an eye on with the purpose of theft. It was during noon and the area was unpeopled. While they were passing by suddenly someone stopped them and hit hard with a thick blunt wooden stick. They fell down from the bike and cried for help but in vain, their voice echoed in the surrounding hills. The robbers despoiled the bag full of rupees and disappeared in the nearby hills.

They looted about two and half lakh rupees. The employees were badly injured. What had happened just in a few moments was beyond their understanding. They were brought to a nearby hospital for treatment. There was no possibility of catching their assailant and recovering the loot as it was intrigued in a deserted area. However, a complaint of robbery was filed.

The afternoon had put the police in action mode. It was necessary to take the culprits into custody before their intentions got too high. LCB PI K D Gohil took over the reins of the investigations. The fellow officers joined him.

As it had betided in a derelict area, no CCTV footage or any other link was available. Therefore, it was a bit complicated to solve the case. The investigating officers were highly experienced in this sort of work. Human intelligence and technical surveillance were put to work and habitual offenders and suspicious crooks were kept under constant watch. Keeping the complainants with them, the CCTV footages of CCTV installed in nearby villages were checked.

The investigation was still in progress, but as days had passed, the burglars were now on the loose and the police were actively pursuing the case. The LCB teams received information from their private informers that the four criminals were coming from Rajasthan to Gujarat on a bike without number plates through the jungles.

Based on the information, the area was cordoned off and at 12:30 pm, according to the information, four ISMOs were passing by with bikes without number plates, police cordoned off and arrested the four criminals. At the result of intensive interrogation, they confessed to the crime of committing the robbery. After mutilating these four malefactors, goods worth approximately two lakhs were seized from them.

The police not only solved the loot case carried out in deserted area, but was also did a commendable job of solving vehicle theft cases.

The district police chief says, “No matter how much technology comes along, basic policing relies on an intensive network of informants. Many such incidents occur where technical help doesn’t seem to work. Then police keep on working for months and years on a single case. This loot case was one such complicated case. Only on the basis of the public's trust in the police did the informer convey the accurate information of the accused to the police. As the district police, it is our duty to inculcate the same trust of the citizens.”

The crime-solving success graph of Aravalli District Police has been steadily rising. The district police have created a positive atmosphere by doing effective work to instil confidence in the hearts of the common people towards Khaki and keep criminals at bay.
